The Three Sisters Mountains in Glencoe
Following my weekend getaway to Dublin, I was accompanied back to Edinburgh by my dear friend Amy. On Tuesday, Amy, Chloe and I rose before the sun to join a day-long bus tour of the Highlands. Fall is in full swing here in Scotland, and the changing leaves provided a gorgeous backdrop for our day of history lessons, laughs, and sheep-spotting.

Second World War Monument
We spent a long morning weaving our way through Highland mountain passes and scattered Scottish towns. Our kilt-clad driver narrated our journey with anecdotes, history tidbits, and traditional clan music.
Urquhart Castle upon the banks of Loch Ness
After many food runs and photo stops, we arrived at our destination: Loch Ness!
After touring through the Castle and museum, we boarded a Jacobite Cruise ship and spent half an hour boating across Loch Ness. The clouds were dark and brooding, the waves licked the side of our vessel, and the wind kept us a little more than cool.
Nessie! I found her! Isn't she a beaut?
We filled ourselves with fresh Highland air, boarded the bus, and headed home, cameras full of photos and bellies full of Scottish yummies. This was a very fun day with old and new friends :)
