Marhaba!
I write to you from an apartment in Agdal, taking refuge in the AC on this wearily hot afternoon in Rabat, Morocco. Many apologies for being off the grid this past month -- I've been busily exploring the Middle East with friends old and new. So many adventures to share!
Being away from Penn, Philadelphia, the USA, and normality in general has been both refreshing and informative. I've gained a new perspective for discussing conflicts here, as well as a deeper appreciation for what I left behind.
In hindsight, the first six months of 2014 were as challenging as they were carefree, rich in comfort and novelty. As I reflect upon all I've seen, the people I've met, and the things I've done, one of these precious moments was my final dinner with my hall. Ducklings, as I call them. I grilled burgers, hot dogs, and portobello caps as they basked in the last few moments of freshman year, relaxing in what would soon cease to be "their" space, the beautiful upper courtyard of Fisher Hassenfeld.
This photo feels now very distant and utterly current, as I suppose greatly comforting moments usually do.
Thank you, ducklings, for a rewarding introduction to motherhood. I can't wait to see how you grow!
Mama Duck
