a day at the (corgi) park

There are a few things in this life that make my heart soar -- deliciously scented tomes, exploring new cities with those I love, the view from atop a horse, cocktail hour with the parentals, and...

Corgis. Oh yes. Those of you who know me well know that I still get that goofy, 5-year-old face of utter bliss upon the sight of fluffy chops, wagging stumps, and fuzzy satellite ears.

So when my mom's best friend asked if I would care to join her and her corgi at a dog show, I gave a yelp and an immediate yes (after I stopped hyperventilating).

Meet Tucker -- our little champion, with a very big heart

Adele and I spent a wonderful Saturday together, chatting away our commute to the dog show, cheering for our little-legged athlete (who won everything he entered), and meandering through French bakeries in New Hope and around sculpture gardens in Doylestown in a warm glow of corgi victory.

The pep talk. Looks like someone's hungry for victory!

WINNER! Two luscious orange ribbons to hang by his doggie bed!

Thank you, Adele and Tucker, for including me in Tucker's rise to corgi athlete stardom! I can't wait to be your dog show groupie -- clad in corgi-themed apparel with salmon treats in hand -- again in the future!
